Never, never, never-ever fit an ozone system to your
pond.
The consequeces are that after several years you may start losing
fish, with them showing similar symptoms to fatty degeneration of the internal
organs, chronic blood infections, with the fish looking scabby and wasting
away. (see health fat fish, fish tuberculosis. and hexamita)
These
products have not been tested for long term effects on fresh water fish
ponds.
In my opinion they're just a gimmick - a expensive one at that!
The manufactures have data lasting more than a year or so, but something as
toxic as ozone should have at least 10 years research
They have been
used for many years in the marine fish keeping side of the hobby, but the
complexities and density of salt water - which by the way is classed as alive -
is in no way akin to fresh water in my opinion.
I have, over the last
few years, seen many koi ponds and fisheries with fish dying of unfound
reasons, until last year when I found 6 koi ponds over one year. The results of
post mortems - ozone poisoning - nothing else could have damaged the fish
internal organs other than a virus or poison, and all tests for virus and
poison were negative.
I suspect they are many more symptoms.
If
you're a fish keeper reading this, if you use ozone, you may now have found the
reasons for your fish deaths.
I my self would never fit ozone to my
system.
