Leeches (Piscicola Geometra)
  1. There is not a treatment that can be bought over the counter.
  2. Just lifting a fish out and removing the leeches will not cure anything.
  3. There is a link (but not proven) of Piscicola Geometra being a transmission vector for Spring Viromania of Carp (SVC).
  4. If leeches are found on your fish, e.g. more than one, then please contact us.
leechesLeeches are very thin. The best way to describe them is that they are back and white striped. If suspected, lift a fish into a bowl with pond water, add 1oz of pond salt per gallon and mix well. You will see the leeches moving because, to the beginner at fish keeping, leeches are often mistaken for anchor worm, and anchor worm wouldn't move.
